Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

6 (Half Day) Modules

Delivered once a week for six weeks.

The PLC system is the major key in the manufacturing and industrial sector today. PLC or Programmable Logic Controller  is the system that makes machinery and systems work automatically. This system is responsible for all the growth in industry and manufacturing processes, which is why PLC systems are very important and needed by all kinds of industry. After completing this course, participants will have an understanding of the history of PLCs, be able to identify the primary components of a PLC system and have a basic understanding of the purpose and function of PLCs.

 

Designed For:

Incumbent workers with little or no exposure to PLCs.

SLC 500

8 Modules

Delivered once a week for eight weeks.

Provide engineers and technicians with the knowledge and skills to enable them to diagnose, fault-find and maintain Allen-Bradley SLC 500 Programmable Logic Controllers, in a safe and competent manner. The Allen Bradley SLC 500 course provides learners with the skills to write simple software code, configure the hardware and enter comments. After completing this course, participants will gain confidence in connecting the programming software to the PLC processor, and monitoring the PLC software using the live software or a table of variables.

Maintenance associates, technicians and engineers.

ABB Robotics

8 Modules

Delivered once a week for eight weeks.

ABB Robot training will provide the skills necessary to maintain and troubleshoot ABB Robot systems. Training can be customized to use your site’s specific programs. This course provides a brief overview of IRC5 Programming I for Material Handling and instruction in IRC5 features and techniques.

 

Designed For:

Maintenance associates, technicians and engineers with strong programming skills (not necessarily ABB products).

Siemens S7-300/400 with STEP 7 V 5.X (Classic)

8 (Half Day) Modules

Delivered once a week for eight weeks.

Siemens PLC training will provide the skills necessary to maintain and troubleshoot systems. The Siemens Step 7 Classic  course provides learners with the skills to write simple software code, configure the hardware and enter comments. After completing this course, participants will gain confidence in connecting the programming software to the PLC processor, and monitoring the PLC software using the live software or a table of variables. Training can be customized to use your site’s programs and specific equipment.

Rockwell (Allen Bradley)

Studio 5000

8 Modules

Delivered once a week for eight weeks.

Provide engineers and technicians with the knowledge and skills to enable them to diagnose, fault-find and maintain Allen-Bradley CompactLogix Programmable Logic Controllers, in a safe and competent manner. The Allen Bradley Studio 5000 course provides learners with the skills to write simple software code, configure the hardware and enter comments. After completing this course, participants will gain confidence in connecting the programming software to the PLC processor, and monitoring the PLC software using the live software or a table of variables.

Maintenance associates, technicians and engineers.

Siemens S7 with TIA Portal

4 Modules

Delivered once a week for four weeks.

Siemens TIA Portal training typically follows the S7-300/400 classic training and provides learners with the skills to write simple software code, configure the hardware, communicate with the HMI, and enter comments. After completing this course, participants will gain confidence in connecting the programming software to the PLC processor, and monitoring the PLC software using the live software. Siemens S7-300/400 Classic is a pre-requisite for this course.

Omron

8 Modules

Delivered once a week for eight weeks.

Provide engineers and technicians with the knowledge and skills to enable them to diagnose, fault-find and maintain Omron Programmable Logic Controllers, in a safe and competent manner. The Omron course provides the learners with the skills to write simple software code, configure the hardware and enter comments. After completing this course, participants will gain confidence in connecting the programming software to the PLC processor, and monitoring the PLC software using the live software or a table of variables.
